We believe children learn best and can reach their potential when they are engaged in the process of learning, if they can make a meaningful connection with the content and realize that they are doing something worthwhile. A child’s brain has the incredible ability to absorb new information, learn, and grow. The wonderment of learning must be nurtured and encouraged in each and every child. This philosophy is the guiding principle behind the iKnow Beginning Reading System.
Children are naturally curious about animals and far away places. We designed iKnow Animals, Letters & Sounds to present children with the opportunity to learn beginning reading concepts, oral language and listening skills while simultaneously helping the animals and the planet. The connection children make to the animals inspires them to continue to progress through the stages of language development.
Here’s How the iKnow Beginning Reading System Works
Music Helps Children Learn Language
Teaching with Music
Music is one of the best ways to teach children language. Music is used throughout the DVDs and online learning games. Auditory and visual clues signal children to learn. The repetition and familiar sounds promote growth and success. Children love to sing and dance; music makes learning fun.
Introduction to the Animals
Learn from the Animals
Children are introduced to each animal in their environment. Children are shown the association between the animal, the word, the sound each letter and animal makes, and how the word is spelled and pronounced.
Beginning Letter Sounds
Learn Their Names and Begin to Read
Children identify the relationship between each letter symbol, the sound it makes, and that letters put together form words. Children begin to learn the connection and the dependence between the animals and the environment throughout the story, images, videos, and animations.
Digital Library
Hear,See, Speak and Learn
Pictures, video, music, and sounds are used to teach children about the unique characteristics of each animal. Alliteration activates the Digital Library. Beginning letter sound and symbol recognition and animal identification are reinforced in the Digital Library.
Letters and Words
Learningto Read with the Animals
Children are asked to help return the animals safely to their homes by seeing, hearing, saying, and identifying each animal’s name and each beginning letter symbol and sound. Children also learn that their contribution will help the animals and the environment.
